Welcome to the House of Medics, a community of professionals and students who have a passion for healthcare, helping one another and impacting the community.

The House of Medics was founded because we realised that most of us were not passionate about traditional medical societies anymore, and paid our membership fees without feeling any meaningful connection to them. Professional bodies and societies were originally social constructs that acted as support systems for their members, and provided a sense of belonging. We want to bring that back to medicine.

We also noticed a lack of opportunity for young people to get into healthcare roles, as well as a lack of opportunity for people working in different specialties and disciplines to genuinely interact. Many societies cater to a small group of people – which of course has its advantages – but since we all work together and often have the same struggles, we believe the House of Medics must be multi-disciplinary.

The aim is to be involved in everything that impacts the life of a young person working in healthcare or studying a healthcare subject. From connecting you to the mentorship you need to be admitted to your chosen course, to providing you with the scrubs for your first shift at the hospital, to holding the event where you meet your closest friend – we do it all here at the House of Medics!
